Banaban school on Rabi Island Fiji where the kids commit to 20 minutes plastics pick up each week this was their first effort. This initiative is is part of the Plastic Free Oceans - Sustainable Social direct projects.
We had a successful clean-up last Thursday morning at Corrimal, a small but dedicated group collected the usual type of rubbish as well as various chairs, a couple of shopping trolleys and a sofa. One of the trolleys was embedded in creek mud but a team effort, including a tow rope attached to Cliff’s car, managed to retrieve the trolley without damage to vehicle or people.
7 hardy souls collected 5 bags of rubbish plus other non-baggable items. Good news is: The Surf Club has installed 2 security cameras to act as a deterrent. Bad news is: It probably doesn’t cover the area up near the Holy Spirit College. Wonderful coffee and camaraderie enjoyed by all!
Rotary Christmas Cakes & Puds: Our Club are selling these again. Boxed cakes are $16.50 & Puddings are $17.50. If you’d like to purchase one, contact Linds

Helping the Jilkminggan Community: Our club donated 100 Days4Girls kits to the Community this week and they will be distributed to girls and women in remote communities, which not only helps the environment, but saves money on the purchase of products.
The Wollongong community have been very supportive and the group will be sending this week 2 crates of summer clothes to the Op Shop along with the kits. Amanda Hay, the Events Manager of the United Communities Group will be a guest speaker at our meeting soon.
The fledging ROCorrimal Cottage Industry Shop is slowly taking place – with proceeds to our Service Account for all items sold. Jean has been busy cooking up pickles and jam and has made this beautiful quilt, Gerri has produced some beautiful pictures, Kay has been busy knitting and the list goes on. Sally will be creating a space on our Facebook page for the shop and is investigating other options. So, if you have any ideas to make items, please send a photo and short description to Sally. If you’d like to know more about this project, please give Jean a call.
