About

Sustainability

For sustainability

  • We have a member sustainability representative whose role is to give a brief report, at least monthly, about ours or other Rotary groups sustainability activities.
  • At least one member of our club/group is a member of the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group and shares their communications. Visit ESRAG
  • We have a sustainability committee/group that regularly considers activities for the club.

Our projects

Fiji School Solar

Started: 2021 Status: Developing
Along with Rotary clubs of Augsburg-Fuggerstadt and Ku-ring-gai we have partnered with Its Time Foundation to install school solar it Soso village in the Yasawa Islands, Fiji. Ratu Apenisa school relies on a dirty generator (it’s broken down at the moment) they can only afford a couple/few hours per day. The kids have little chance of a modern education. Our project will provide clean, free electricity for lighting and computers to transform the education prospects of these kids. The money saved on generator fuel will buy computers and other desperately needed education resources. The project some carbon dioxide emissions and a bonus for the environment, the school commits to pick up plastics for 15 minutes each week to protect their marine environment – see link item for details.
If you are interested in more information about the project please contact Jeremy.
