About
Corrimal Rotary Club is a vibrant club with a great mix of people who have a passion about our local and international communities. We warmly welcome guests to experience Rotary fellowship and see how individuals can change the world through Rotary’s networks. You will find being a member of Rotary is not only richly satisfying but also personally rewarding and beneficial in many unexpected ways.
For sustainability
We have a member sustainability representative whose role is to give a brief report, at least monthly, about ours or other Rotary groups sustainability activities.
At least one member of our club/group is a member of the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group and shares their communications.Visit ESRAG
We have a sustainability committee/group that regularly considers activities for the club.
Like a growing number of Rotary clubs, at least monthly some members meet for an hour to pick up plastics in our area. So, we keep a small part of the earth as free of plastic as possible - it's a small action we do to protect marine and other wildlife. We hope all all Rotary groups around the world will join us in doing the same.
Like a growing number of Rotary clubs, at least monthly some members meet for an hour to pick up plastics in our area. So, we keep our small patch on the earth as free of plastic as possible and to protect marine and other wildlife. We go for a coffee and fellowship after. Our monthly anchor is to meet first Saturday of the month 8:00 AM at Corrimal Surf Club. Through activity that we formed CREG - Corrimal Rotary Environment Group and we now have rubbish pick up events most weeks - hey that might sound a bit dull, but we have a ton of fun and it's always packed with laughter. And it is evolving into other projects - watch this space.

If you would like a few tips on how to set up your club's monthly plastic pick up activity - only needs two people to kick it off - feel free to make contact.
The Days for Girls (DfG) Pad is a washable, reusable, beautiful menstrual health product that’s built to last. Our patented design, which includes a protective shield and absorbent liner, is backed by the latest menstrual health research and a decade of feedback from women around the world. It is a truly sustainable solution that menstruators can count on month after month, for up to three years. We have included this as a sustainability project because of the potential of saving single use pads going to land fill (in the instances where women there could afford them)
Many island schools struggle with no electricity supply – or rely on dirty diesel generators they can barely afford to run a couple of hours per day. The kids have little or no chance of a modern education. Its Time Foundation, with the generous support of its partners, provides clean, free electricity for lighting and computers and utterly transforms the education and prospects for these kids. The money saved on generator fuel creates decades of cash flow to buy computers and other desperately needed education resources. In some schools the teachers happily make modest contributions for their new 24 hour power, further contributing to education resources. 60 trees for 60 Years Tree Planting (contactGerri)
It’s happening. Our 60 trees and shrubs for sixty years planting is happening on Friday October 23. I am hoping it will be at 4 pm but that is yet to be confirmed by council. Trees take in carbon dioxide and store it in themselves, while producing the oxygen that we breathe. Hence, they are a significant defence against global warming.
They filter the air of nasty pollutants, such as carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide. They control climate by moderating the effects of sun, win

Banaban school on Rabi Island Fiji where the kids commit to 20 minutes plastics pick up each week this was their first effort. This initiative is is part of the Plastic Free Oceans - Sustainable Social direct projects.
We had a successful clean-up last Thursday morning at Corrimal, a small but dedicated group collected the usual type of rubbish as well as various chairs, a couple of shopping trolleys and a sofa. One of the trolleys was embedded in creek mud but a team effort, including a tow rope attached to Cliff’s car, managed to retrieve the trolley without damage to vehicle or people.
7 hardy souls collected 5 bags of rubbish plus other non-baggable items. Good news is: The Surf Club has installed 2 security cameras to act as a deterrent. Bad news is: It probably doesn’t cover the area up near the Holy Spirit College. Wonderful coffee and camaraderie enjoyed by all!
Rotary Christmas Cakes & Puds: Our Club are selling these again. Boxed cakes are $16.50 & Puddings are $17.50. If you’d like to purchase one, contact Linds

Helping the Jilkminggan Community: Our club donated 100 Days4Girls kits to the Community this week and they will be distributed to girls and women in remote communities, which not only helps the environment, but saves money on the purchase of products.
The Wollongong community have been very supportive and the group will be sending this week 2 crates of summer clothes to the Op Shop along with the kits. Amanda Hay, the Events Manager of the United Communities Group will be a guest speaker at our meeting soon.
The fledging ROCorrimal Cottage Industry Shop is slowly taking place – with proceeds to our Service Account for all items sold. Jean has been busy cooking up pickles and jam and has made this beautiful quilt, Gerri has produced some beautiful pictures, Kay has been busy knitting and the list goes on. Sally will be creating a space on our Facebook page for the shop and is investigating other options. So, if you have any ideas to make items, please send a photo and short description to Sally. If you’d like to know more about this project, please give Jean a call.
