Mr. Herman explained that we are supporting the Global Campaign on plastic prevention, The District Coordinators should share experiences gained recently through the plastic project and the Environment protection programs with the staff of the other districts. The collection of plastic items is important but should focus on prevention aspects as well. He further said reporting is important in all project activities and staff should improve their reporting skills.3. Key points raised by the district teams. i. Ampara: It is important to expand training and awareness programs related to the impact of Plastic usage rather than collecting plastic items. What is our plan for it.ii. Puttalum: We must work with Government organizations and request them to impose laws to prevent unsuitable plastic disposal. iii. Trincomalee: We want youth members to be the Eco-spindle agents for buying and selling of plastic items to the company. iv. Galle: We have to ask the Education authorities to include the concept of proper disposal of plastic to the school curriculums and should motivate school children to follow it as Environmental protection activity. Gamini replied saying that he will take up the matter with the Ministry of Environment. 4. Rob congratulated the Sri Lankan management team for organizing the meeting and said the meeting was very motivating. He further said that he likes to respond to the point that was raised by Satheesh regarding the Relationship between Rob and NAFSO. Rob said his main focus is to develop a Platform to discuss the Impact of plastic usage and disposal. He shared the experience that he gained while working with countries such as Fiji Islands as a member of the Rotary club. Rob further explained the reporting procedure that he introduced and requested the participants to use the Emil reporting procedure to inform the activities conducted. The link is given below.
